The Joy of the Surrendered Will

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Ps 40:8

Ps 40:8 I delight t do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. (KJV)

"The history of all the characters of the Bible is summed up in one sentence: They acquainted themselves with god, and acquiesced (complied with) His will in all things."-Richard Cecil

Beloved the benefits and blessings of surrendering our will to the Master are innumerable in measure. God created mankind to live in loving relationship with Him. I believe that for each of us He wants to present circumstances which will challenge us to use our God-given gifts, and talents in order to subdue the earth and bring glory to the Father. However this cannot be fully explored or appreciated unless our will is surrendered to the will of God.

The Psalmist suggests that derives the highest degree of joy from knowing that he is responding properly to the will of God for his life. I believe that every Christian can live a fulfilling life only when we are committed to doing the will of God daily. If your life appears to be bogging down and you are uncertain of the direction of your life, now would be an opportune moment to pause and seek the heart of God. God wants you to know His heart and to know the direction in which He has purposes for your life. God has written His will down and left it on record within the pages of the Bible. All that we have to do if we are truly serious about knowing the will of God about anything that concerns us is to study the word of God diligently. It is not enough to study alone after studying we must apply the principles or truths that we have learned in order to please God.

The reason that many of us fail to do the will of God is because we don't know the Word or we are double-minded. Which means we are not fully committed to the tenets of the Word of God. Instead of accepting the bible as the inerrant Word of god, there are some who receive it only as nice sayings but they view them as impractical in real-life situations. This mind set erases the potential for receiving the full benefit of God's Word because the release of God's blessing is based upon our faith. If you don't believe it then you can reasonably suggest that you are getting what you believe.

When our will is surrendered fully to God, we not only believe that all things are possible through Him, we expect the impossible from Him. If you want God's best for your life, you must comply with the will of God in all things. Not my will but thine be done!
