From the Apostle's Pen

Thanksgiving Everyday

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Ps 107:21-22

Ps 107:21-22

"Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of Thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing." (KJV)

"If one should give me a dish of sand," says Holmes, "and tell me there were particles of iron in it, I might look for them with my eyes, and search for them with my clumsy fingers, and be unable to detect them; but let me take a magnet, and sweep through it, and how would it draw to itself the most invisible particles by the mere power of attraction! The unthankful heart, like my finger in the sand, discovers no mercies: but let the thankful heart sweep through the day, and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find in every hour some heavenly blessings; only the iron in God's sand is gold." - Holmes

I would first of all like to pray God's blessings upon each and every family connected with TLCC. I pray that as we enter into the advent season you will search your hearts and discover much for which thanks is due unto the Lord. Most of us have more than enough and even some to spare. It is my prayer that you will take the time during this holiday to show your gratitude to God by sharing some of what He has given to you with someone who is in need.

The illustration suggests to us that the thankful heart attracts the true riches of God. There is nothing that God will not do for the truly thankful heart. This gratitude begins and ends with the heartfelt gratitude of a Savior who came to give not only His very best but, His all on our behalf. The dept of gratitude that is owed to God can certainly never be fully repaid. In fact, all that God requires of us is summarized in a text from the book of Micah. "He hat shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to lover mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" (Micah 6:8-KJV).

So, beloved in this season of thankfulness, I encourage you to lift those hands up, give Him thanks, and open your mouth to tell of the great things the Lord has done for you.
