The Miracle in Common Things

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Ex 4:1-5

Ex 4:1-5

And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

"Not your responsibility, but your response to God's ability is what counts." - Eleanor L. Doan

Beloved each of us has received gifts and talents from God that are intended to serve use well as we serve humankind. Too often in life we allow ourselves to serve us well as we serve human kind. Too often in life we allow ourselves to be marginalized as a class or an individual based upon someone else's stereotypical preconceptions about us. Unfortunately all too often we believe the negative press release of others about us and it becomes an impression upon our souls. This impression then becomes a mental stronghold within us that we spend the entire of our lives attempting unsuccessfully to defeat. The reason I use the phrase unsuccessfully is because nothing about us can change until we stir up our faith to believe that we can change. The Bible succinctly says, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he" (Prov. 23:7a KJV)

Much like Moses' rod which was a simple staff used by many within Israel, the miracle was only released when he was fully obedient to God. God used this simple staff to draw Israel's attention from their woeful plight to envision the possibility of deliverance from the clutches of Egypt and Pharaoh. In principle God will use what you have at-hand so in order to prove Himself strong in your life. God is the only one that can perform the impossible with the impossible.

Saints, I share these words with you to stir your faith to trust God with that which you have at-hand that the miracle you are in need of might be released. When we respond properly to God's ability, the outcome will be nothing short of amazing. The common things that God has placed under your charge be it a talent, a gift, or an ability, can bring glory to God through your simple act of faith. What's that in YOUR hands?
