The Steadfast of Mind is Promised Peace

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Isa 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: becauase he trusteth in thee. (KJV)

"Three enemies of personal peace: regrets over yesterday's mistakes, anxiety over tomorrow's problems, and ingratitude for today's blessings." William A. Ward

Greetings to each of you in the name of Jesus Christ who is the Prince of Peace. I share these few lines with you today to encourage you to receive the peace of God. There is certainly no shortage of circumstances that would cause one to be overwhelmed and stressed out concerning. However, God knowing full well the systems of this world and how they operate made it possible through the blood of His covenant, that we could receive a constant supply of peace in our soul from the Holy Spirit.

The key to this constant supply of peace according to the Word of God is our commitment of heart to stedfastly focus on God and the things of God. The word "steadfast" implies to be marked by firm determination. It means to have unswerving allegiance toward someone or something. It means to possess firm convictions in the spirit. God is telling us through his Word that when we possess a determined and firm conviction to trust in him no matter what the situation may be we can be assured that the peace of God will abound in our hearts.

It is interesting to note that the purpose for this peace is not to make us comfy, but to strengthen and secure us while we wait on God for the fulfilment of the promised thing. The peace that comes from God will both guard and keep you. He will guard you fro attacks that would overwhelm the soul, and will keep you from yielding to the devices ofthe enemy. The key is that your mind must be focused on God in its inclination and in its character.

The reason that the peace of God is able to rule in some lives and not in others is a matter of faith in God. The end of the text suggests to us that all of this will be made possible because the believer is leaning on, and trusting fully in our God. The peace of God comes to minister to the person who is willfully committed to God and the things of God. This person will be able to hope in God and witness that hope being fulfilled.
