Humility: Key to Greatness

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Phil 2:3

Phil 2:3

Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

"I believe the first test of a truly great man is his humility. I do not mean by humility, doubt of his own power, or hesitation in speaking his opinion. But really great men have a curious under-sense of powerlessness, feeling that the greatness is not in them but through them; that they could not do or be anything else than God made them." - John Ruskin

Greetings to all in the name of our risen Lord Jesus Christ. I am so very thankful for all of the saints who have worked so hard to make this month a success. I want to say however, that this move of friendship and family evangelism is not over it is only just begun. There are countless souls that we have personal contact with that do not have a personal relationship with the Lord. Our assignment is to introduce them to the Christ of God.

Today, I feel led to stress the importance of humility in our dealings with each other. Humility is the virtue that is foundational to all of the other virtues or graces of God. Humility is a strong sense of thankfulness toward God for all that he has given for you to share with others. Humility makes a bold statement that we know that anything we have or that we possess has been graciously given to us by God, so that I cannot boast in myself because it is not I but the Christ that is in me that deserves the glory.

Too often we allow ourselves the luxury of thinking ourselves to be important, some great one, when if the truth were told, we frequently wrestle with the knowledge of whom we are and what God is graciously doing with our lives. The truth is that each of us knows the chasms that we have had to cross over in our hearts to get to the place that we are at today. The reality is that God has done and for that matter continues to do great things within and through for which we can take none of the credit. If you truly aspire to greatness in the kingdom of God, you must cultivate the spirit of humility. Humility will foster an atmosphere of loving support for others. Humble is the way!

, because we will clearly see God's hand in their lives.
