A Time to Honor the Peacemakers

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Ps 147:11-14

Ps 147:11-14

The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion. For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee. He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.

I greet each of you this Lord's Day in the name of Jesus Christ who is the Prince of Peace. I just want to leave a few thoughts with you concerning this particular holiday that we are entering into. I believe that it is extremely important that we remember those in the armed services who are sacrificing their safety and security in order to keep us a safe nation. Each of us ought to be aware of the reality that it is unquestionably the Lord who is watching the nations of the world. The Bible tells us that our attempt to protect ourselves from enemy attack is futile without the watchful eye of the Lord. We also know that God uses people in order to effect his righteous rule upon the earth. Therefore, we must pray for our President, his cabinet, and all of the men and women in uniform who have made and are making the ultimate sacrifice to maintain the liberties that we now enjoy.

There is power in the united prayers of the saints. I am asking that this holiday not merely be a time for gathering and enjoying our holiday pastimes. This should also be a time of reflection and prayer for those who are presently in harms way to secure our freedoms. Please take the time to pray for these men and women along with their families.

Whether or not we believe in the justification for this war is really inconsequential the important thing is that we pray for direction for our leaders, and the safety of our troops around the world. Somewhere in this nation and nations around the world a family grieves the loss of a loved one. We want these families to feel our prayers and our concern for their losses. Take the time this special day to remember them.
