Serving Sons & Daughters

Mal 3:17

And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. (KJV)

"A Christian worker is good; a worker for Christ is better; but Christ, in a worker, working out His will through Him, is best of all." - Wilfred Grenfell

Beloved, I thank God for the very fact that because of the obedience of Christ the Son of God upon the cross we can claim our righteous inheritance. Through faith and by confession and obedience to God the Father we have become heirs of God and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ.

We must always remember that Jesus Christ is our supreme example, it was he who said, "And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." (Matt 20:27-28).

We must accept the fact that any organization or in our case organism is only as strong as its people. It could also be said that any kingdom is only as strong as its citizens. The point that I am attempting to advance is that each of us as citizens of the kingdom of God must learn to serve God by serving others in some capacity or another. We must be cautious and vigilant against permitting the spirit of the world to reign amongst us. The world teaches 'the survival of the fittest,' and that 'only the strong should survive. ' However, there is a kingdom principle that says, "We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification." (Rom 15:1-2).

My purpose for making mention of the idea of serving sons and daughters is to make each of us aware that Christ has called us out of our sins to display his love and grace through service to humanity. We are called disciples to make disciples of others for Christ' sake. Ask yourself the question "how am I showing my appreciation to God for His salvation?" Am I following the model of my elder Brother Jesus Christ in serving others? What am I doing now that I am saved? Is my church attendance enough? The answer is no!
