The Sanctified Will and Success

By Apostle Joseph Hobbs, Th.D.
Isa 1:19

Isa 1:19

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: (KJV)

"The heart of the worldly man is to want his own way. The heart of the sons of God is to want what God wants. When we train our hearts to want what God wants success is guaranteed." - Joseph Hobbs

Greetings to each of you in the name of our God; Jehovah Jireh, the Lord of all or our provisions. The word 'will' literally means the desires or wishes of the heart. I believe that according to the Word of God there is a correlation between our desires or wishes and our success in life.

Let me begin by suggesting to you that many words that are in common usage today need to be redeemed and placed back into their proper setting. What I mean by this is that so many words through the deceitfulness of sin and Satan have lost their sacred import. The word 'desire' is one of those words. The word desire is synonymous with the will and it means to long or hope for, to express a wish for something. This word has been used in such a negative connotation that we have almost lost its meaning for the good in life.

Let me give you two examples in the Scriptures of these words used for the good. In the gospel of Mark it says, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." (Mark 11:24 KJV). Also in the third Epistle of John it says, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.. " (3 Jn 1:2 KJV). In both instances we see that we can and should have our godly desires fulfilled.

I believe that what we are seeing in both texts is an indication that when the individual is sanctified so should their will and desires be consecrated unto the Lord. You must will or want to do the will of God as outlined in the Word of God if you expect to be successful in life.

When the will of man is sanctified, he wants more than anything else to please the Lord. It pleases God when we are willfully obedient so that he might perform his good Word toward us. If you would eat the good of this land, the heart and mind must be sanctified to do the will of God.
